60 years of wedded bliss
A YUNGABURRA couple have celebrated 60 years of marriage with a week of festivities with family and friends.
Jennifer and John Knight were married on 8 January 1966 at Babinda.
Jenny was working as a telephonist in Babinda where she lived with her parents at the time, while John was an electrician at the Mulgrave Mill and lived at Gordonvale.
After marrying, the couple moved to Cairns for four years before moving to Cooktown where they had a farm and established a caravan park and roadhouse 32km from town on the Endeavour River.
The Endeavour Falls Tourist Park was where they lived for the next 33 years and where they raised four children, before relocating to Lakeside in Yungaburra for the past 23 years.
The couple says they have enjoyed the “love of a wonderful family”, and now have the joy of having 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The 60th wedding anniversary is being celebrated with family and friends from all over the state.
