A day to remember
THOUSANDS of people across the region will turn out this Saturday to Anzac Day services to commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
Anzac Day ceremonies will be held at the following locations and times:
CHILLAGOE
Dawn Service – Assemble at 4am at the Chillagoe Town Hall. Service at 4.20am, followed by breakfast.
March and Service – Assemble at 10 Acre Park, Frew Street at 9.15am. March to the Chillagoe Hall at 9.30am followed by service and morning tea.
DIMBULAH
Dawn Service – Assemble at 5.45am at the Glynn Street Market. Service will be at 6am at Dimbulah Memorial Hall.
KURANDA
Dawn Service – Assemble at 5.15am for a 5.30am start, service to follow parade at Kuranda Railway Station.
March and Service – Assemble outside IGA from 10.15am for march. Step off at 10.30am. Service to follow parade at Centenary Park Kuranda.
MAREEBA
Dawn Service – 4.28am to 4.58am at the Mareeba Cenotaph, Anzac Park, Byrnes Street.
March and Service – Assemble outside the Post Office at 10.05am. Service to follow parade at the Mareeba Cenotaph, Anzac Park.
MT MOLLOY
Dawn Service – Assemble 6.30am at the Mt Molloy Cenotaph.
March and Service – Assemble Vains Park 10am to 10.15am, march to the Mt Molloy cenotaph, service to follow parade at 10.30am.
WATSONVILLE
Service – Assemble 2.30pm at the Watsonville Shelter Shed. Service to commence at 3pm.
ATHERTON
4.20am – Cenotaph dawn service. Assemble at Atherton Remembrance Park. Followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Barron Valley Hotel.
8.45am – War graves observance. Assemble at the War Cemetery.
10.25am – Cenotaph service and march. Assemble at the Atherton Men’s Shed. Service starts at 11.00am.
EVELYN
6.20am – War memorial service on Jonsson Road. Free bus departs Ravenshoe RSL Hall at 6am.
HERBERTON
4.45am – Cenotaph dawn service.
9am – Padre White graveside service at Herberton Cemetery.
9.45am – Cenotaph service and march. Assemble at the Royal Hotel. Service starts at 10.05am.
MALANDA
4am – Service and march at Eacham Memorial Gates. Assemble at the Malanda Hotel. Followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Top Rail Restaurant.
8.45am – Service and march at Eacham Memorial Gates. Assemble near William Street behind the Ampol service station. Service starts at 9.30am.
MILLAA MILLAA
4.15am – Service and march at RSL Hall. Assemble outside QCWA Hall.
10am – Service and march RSL Hall. Assemble at Millaa Millaa Primary School. Service starts at 10.45am.
MOUNT GARNET
5.30am – Cenotaph service followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Town Hall.
9.30am – Cenotaph service and march. Assemble at the Mount Garnet Hotel. Service starts at 10.10am. Followed by morning tea and entertainment at the Town Hall. Please bring a plate to share.
RAVENSHOE
9.30am – Cenotaph service and march. Assemble at the Ravenshoe Bakery. Service starts at 10am.
YUNGABURRA
5.30am – Service at Afghanistan Avenue of Honour. Followed by a gunfire breakfast at Yungaburra Hotel.
7.45am – Cenotaph service and march. Assemble on Eacham Road opposite Foodworks. Service starts at 8am.
