Tara McGrath was presented with the award during the three-day event in late October in Cairns.

The conference brought together more than 200 members from across the state to network, share knowledge, and recognise the vital contributions of volunteers.

The QCWA’s Country Kitchens program, in partnership with the State Government, is a health promotion program supporting communities across Queensland to adopt healthier lifestyle behaviours.

Country Kitchens facilitators use a series of training modules and their own wealth of cooking knowledge and skills to work in their local communities delivering nutrition information, interactive displays and cooking workshops at schools, local councils and a wide range of community groups.

Ms McGrath was recognised for her advocacy for the program in her community and across the region, and for her delivery of hands-on nutrition workshops.

She was also instrumental in the implementation of the Healthier Supermarkets project pilot in Dimbulah with the Dimbulah Friendly Grocer.
