A showing of spirit and heart
MAREEBA local Lachlan Ford showed heart and true spirit after running 128km in one day and raising over $40,000 for cancer research.
Taking on the challenge was a daring feat, but it was all worth it once he crossed the finish line.
“That’s probably one of the greatest feelings of my life. I can’t believe I got it done,” he said emotionally.
“I’m ready for a beer, I can tell you that much for free.”
Lachlan ran for over 15 hours on the day, and he was supported by a “cracking turnout” from the Townsville community.
His Aunty Sally, who has recently battled cancer and was the main reason behind his fundraising campaign, flew all the way from Melbourne to give her support.
Lachlan reached his massive goal of raising over $40,000 and donated it all to the Cancer Council.
