Adoptions needed ahead of busy period
WITH a full cattery and dozens of other animals needing a home, the Mareeba Animal Refuge is encouraging the community to come along to its adoption day this weekend.
The refuge is approaching one of its busiest periods of the year, making adoptions critical to allow for more animals to be able to go into care.
“As the warmer months arrive, so does the annual wave of puppies and kittens needing our help,” refuge worker Felicity Pollard said.
“Combined with the increase in surrender requests we see leading into the Christmas holidays, it’s one of the busiest and most challenging times of year for our refuge.
“Every adoption is so important, not only for the animal finding their forever family, but for the next animal waiting for a safe place to land.”
The adoption day will be held at Pets Domain, Mareeba (52 Rankin St) from 9am-1pm this Saturday, with an array of kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs looking to find a home. The refuge will also be doing special Halloween photos.
