Adorable animals in need
HEAD on down to Pets Domain this weekend for the Mareeba Animal Refuge’s Big Snag Bash event, where the group will be holding a sausage sizzle and adoption day.
The refuge will have a selection of adorable puppies, dogs, cats, and kittens looking for their forever homes at the adoption day event this Saturday, which will be held from 9am-1pm at Pets Domain, Mareeba (52 Rankin Street).
All adoptions include desexing, vaccination, microchipping, and up-to-date parasite treatments. Animals that are too young to have been desexed will come with a voucher that will cover the full cost when they are old enough to undergo the process.
“Adoptions are critical because we have so many animals in need of rescue,” refuge staffer Felicity Pollard said.
“We currently have a long wait list for surrender dogs and puppies, as well as calls from surrounding pounds and other rescues to save dogs in critical need. Just last month alone we had 63 rescues arrive in our care.”
The group also wanted to give thanks to the Mareeba branch of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), which donated $1000 to it and Mareeba Meals on Wheels, and committed to yearly donations to both organisations.
“Being a not-for-profit, we rely on community support to keep our doors open to the many animals in need,” Felicity said.
“This generous donation from the amazing gentlemen of the Mareeba RAOB is genuinely appreciated by our team and the many lives it will help us save.”
Alongside the adoption day event, there will be a sausage sizzle, money boards, and information on volunteering and sponsorship with the Mareeba Animal Refuge.
Fees are $190 for male cats, $250 for female cats, $350 for medium/large breed male dogs, $400 for medium/large breed female dogs and puppies, and $500 for smaller breeds.
