Organisers are keen to keep Tinaroo a major draw card for fishing enthusiasts, with over 21 world records being broken since their first event in 1987.

There are 22 categories this year, including longest barramundi, sooty grunter, mangrove jack or red claw.

Prizes are also up for grabs for most caught tilapia and blue and forktail catfish.

Every adult who competes in this year’s bash will also have a chance to win a prize of $10,000 cash, so long as they are at the event site at Foreshore Park on Sunday.

Nominations for the event can be made at Atherton Bait and Tackle and registrations on the day will take place at Foreshore Park in the Tinaroo Township from 3pm Friday.
