A recent fundraising event in Georgetown raised $37,000 for communities in the Etheridge Shire who were affected by recent severe flooding.

The team at Prophurst Livestock and Rural Property Agents travelled from Tolga and Innisfail all the way out to Georgetown recently to support Far North Queensland communities who were impacted by the severe flooding across the region.

The event took place during challenging conditions, with ongoing rain and flood impacts across the region keeping many people away who would have otherwise attended.

Despite these difficult circumstances, the evening received strong support from those who were able to attend. Many individuals and businesses generously donated goods for auction, and attendees on the night bid enthusiastically, helping lift the total funds raised to $37,000.

Prophurst principal Bram Pollock said the support shown by those who attended was greatly appreciated.

“The weather and flooding across the region meant many people simply couldn’t make it, but those who did attend supported the night in a big way,” he said.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated items, turned up on the night and spent up big. The generosity shown was outstanding.

“We’re a small family business, but we believe strongly in supporting the communities where we live and work. We hope our small contribution helps the people of the Etheridge Shire as they recover.”
