AUSTRALIA VOTES NO TO VOICE
The majority of Australians have voted no to the proposal to establish and an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in the Constitution.

Following Saturday’s historic referendum, the first in almost a quarter of a century, it was clear when ballot counting started that the proposed amendment was not going to happen.
All states voted No and it was clear the majority of people, particularly in the Kennedy electorate, did not support a Voice to Parliament.
Mareeba recorded one of the highest No votes with over 85% of locals voting against the change and Atherton was close by with almost 82% voting No.
Now voting is over, Kennedy MP Bob Katter took to Facebook and said it’s time to put the politics aside and start looking towards helping First Nation’s Australians.
“What’s not done and dusted are my efforts to ensure the real fair dinkum First Australian communities can address their life expectancy of 56,” he said.
