Author to talk about women in the Viking Age
A FASCINATING talk about women in the Viking age with Australian author Megan Formanek will be brought to Tablelands Libraries next week.

As a university history major, Megan Formanek became fascinated by the Dark Ages and Viking Age.
Morning train commutes were filled with research into Viking burial sites where the typecast of violent raiders transformed into master integrators, taking a new land by force but then disappearing into history by adopting local cultures and religions.
Megan became enthralled by accounts of Viking grave goods found in Russia, reportedly inscribed in the deceased’s own hand, a rare find for this period.
These artefacts, and unanswered questions drove her to create the Viking Trading Lands series of books.
Megan writes Scandinavian historical fiction, telling adventurous stories of women set to make their own choices in a world where to fight can be an act of creation.
Megan will be at three libraries next Tuesday - Atherton Library at 9.30am, Malanda Library 12noon and Ravenshoe Library at 3pm.
Bookings are not essential, and walk-ins are welcome, however you can reserve a place, through TRC’s website. (https://www.trc.qld.gov.au/services-and-facilities/libraries/whats-on-libraries/)
