The Bandits hosted the first-placed side at Borzi Park, Mareeba on Saturday, with a damaging century from the visitors’ captain proving instrumental in their win.

Barron River elected to bat first and posted a score of 197 runs, with captain Tim Ward scoring 106-not-out from 125 balls.

Despite an outstanding effort from the skipper, the Bandits showed prowess with the ball in hand, with three batsmen being kept to below 10 runs, and three kept to below 20.

Youngsters Tyler Misener and Ryan Jaszczyszyn had their talent on show, both taking two wickets each.

Barron River finished their 40 overs with a score of 6/197.

The Bandits didn’t fair as well in their batting innings, with just five batsmen tallying up 10 or more runs.

Father and son duo Greg and Tyler Misener top-scored for the home side, with Greg notching up 34 runs off 36 balls and son Tyler scoring 23 from 46.

Mareeba were unable to keep the momentum going, however, and a string of quick dismissals saw them reach the end of the batting order with a score of 123 runs after 31.1 overs.

This Saturday, Mareeba will take on the second-placed Mulgrave side in Edmonton, while Atherton return from their bye round to play the Rovers in Cairns.
