Be part of something special
VETERANS who attend the Yungaburra Anzac Day service will be honoured in a heartfelt way this year, with each set to receive a hand-written card from members of the community who are being invited to participate in a special initiative.

A set of five timber boxes, handmade by the Yungaburra Men’s Shed, have been dispersed to various businesses in Yungaburra with the intention for people to write on a card thanking local veterans for their service.
The initiative has been headed by a generous community member who loves to give back. Last year, the person set up a bar tab at the Yungaburra Pub so veterans could drink for free after the service, but this year, those servicemen will receive a heartwarming message along with their drink of choice.
“This year I wanted to step it up a little bit,” the person, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained.
“So, anybody can write a thank you card to a veteran and pop it into the box. I will collect all the boxes before Anzac Day and then I will pop my card, along with one of the cards from the boxes, into an envelope with a poppy, and then when they get their drink, they will then get the cards.”
The note can be anything as simple as saying “thank you”, it could be about what Anzac Day means to them, or just a nice message. Cards and the boxes are located at (all in Yungaburra):
