Big fight show for Mareeba
MAREEBA’s Spirit Muay Thai (SMT) gym is preparing to host one of its biggest events to date, with a 13-bout fight card sure to make for a great show next month.
The SMT Fight Show will feature 13 epic fights, with amateur Muay Thai bouts showcasing local fighters and young talents from across the state.
The night will also include a special youth sparring bout to open the event, highlighting the next generation of SMT Muay Thai athletes.
SMT gym owner Rosario Signorino said he was really looking forward to the event.
“It’s a big event for us and it’s something we’ve been working hard towards,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to showcase our fighters and the talent we have here in the region.
“We’re proud to be putting on an event for the local community and giving the fighters the chance to step into the ring and test themselves.
“There’s a lot of excitement around the gym and we can’t wait for fight night.”
Fighters will be rolling in from Mareeba, Cairns, Townsville, Weipa, and across Far North Queensland, making it a great regional event.
The event aims to bring the community together and promote discipline, respect and the spirit of Muay Thai, while supporting local sport in Mareeba.
There will also be a bar available and food provided by Gino’s Pizza on the night. The Fight Show will be held Saturday 11 April at the Mareeba International Club from 4pm, with the first bout getting underway at 5pm.
