Bikers riding high for toys
CARS and motorcycles are being polished and decorated in anticipation of this Saturday’s annual Tablelands Toy Run.
Thousands of dollars and toys have been donated to the Salvation Army through the annual event over the past 29 years, and with around 150 motorbikes and 25 cars taking part, it is sure to be a huge success again.
Coordinator Don Sheppard said everyone was looking forward to the event which is hosted by the Highland Restorers Club.
“It’s all about bringing people together to support a good cause – helping those in need,” he said.
Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed rider and bike and best car.
The Toy Run will collect gifts and non-perishable food items at stops along the way. The run will leave Tinaroo Rural Fire Brigade at 9am with a sausage sizzle and barbecue available from 7.30am.
From there, they will stop at the Yungaburra Market where students from Yungaburra Primary School will hand over their donations to the Salvation Army.
The motorcade will then travel a little further down the road to Malanda and receive donations. From there, they will head on to Atherton and then to Tolga, arriving at the Salvation Army store for the final destination.
There, the gifts and donations will be handed over and the draw for the monster raffle, with over $1,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, will be held.
