The event, hosted by charity founder Nicola Baker, was considered a great success, with the donation to Macquarie University Neurosciences seen as a step in the right direction for moyamoya research.

Mrs Baker’s book, “The Thing About Jed,” was also launched on the night.

For the first time in history, five moyamoya survivors gathered together at the ball, marking the first time that many survivors were in the same room.

“It feels wonderful to have had five moyamoya patients come to the ball, particularly one mum who drove from Melbourne to bring her three children,” Mrs Baker said.

“Other attendees flew from Melbourne and the Gold Coast just to be part of our World Moyamoya Day celebrations, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our community.”
