Bowls club raises money for cancer
THE Yungaburra Bowls Club held their annual Classic 4s Tournament recently, and raised $2,000 towards men’s cancer research.
The annual Classic 4s Tournament at the Yungaburra Bowls Club raised $2,000 for men’s cancer research.
The event, which has been running since 2002, is one of the most popular tournaments on the Tablelands.
This year’s event saw 64 bowlers from Cairns, Tablelands, Innisfail, Ingham and even travellers from Mt Tamborine take part.
The late Freddie Sloan (champion bowler) was the one who decided to incorporate the men’s cancer charity aspect into the tournament and has seen thousands of dollars raised over the years.
Event winners this year were Craig Riddell (left), Dutchy, Jeff Lewis and Gary Pritchard.
