THE Mareeba Bulls will be left wondering what might have been after surrendering a two-goal advantage to draw 3-3 with Southside Comets in a thrilling Far North Queensland Premier League clash on Sunday.

A brace by number 16 Keanu Tatti wasn’t enough to give the Bulls three points.

Travelling to take on a Comets side they were expected to account for, the Bulls were forced to overcome significant challenges before a ball was even kicked, with key players Wayne Srhoj, Stabile, and goalkeeper Tyson Tatti all sidelined through injury.

Despite the setbacks, the match exploded into life almost immediately. Southside struck first in just the second minute when Foua Thao unleashed a spectacular long-range effort that gave the Bulls no chance and handed the home side an early lead.

Mareeba’s response was immediate. Just two minutes later, Keanu Tatti found himself in the right place at the right time, arriving at the near post to apply the finishing touch and level the scores at 1-1.

The early exchanges set the tone for an entertaining contest, with both sides playing attacking football. The Bulls gradually gained control and were rewarded in the 21st minute when Tatti struck again, finishing confidently to give Mareeba a 2-1 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Both teams settled into a more measured rhythm after the restart, but chances continued to appear at either end. The Bulls looked to have one hand on all three points when Darcy McCormack produced a thunderous strike midway through the second half to extend Mareeba’s lead to 3-1.

With the visitors controlling proceedings and appearing destined for victory, the Comets found a way back into the contest. Del Manso ignited hopes of a comeback in the 70th minute when he reduced the deficit to 3-2.

The goal lifted the home side and shifted the momentum of the match. Southside continued to press forward and eventually found their reward when Lucas Simpson was on hand to score the equaliser and complete the comeback.

While the Bulls will be disappointed to leave with only a point after leading 3-1, the draw keeps them moving forward as they look to overcome a growing injury list and maintain their push up the ladder.

The Bulls are at home this weekend when they take on Edge Hill United at Borzi Park from 7pm.
