Bulls run riot to claim crucial victory
THE Mareeba Bulls produced their most convincing performance of the season on Saturday, defeating Innisfail United 6-2 at Steve Corica Oval and climbing off the bottom of the ladder in the process.

Travelling to the Cassowary Coast determined to turn their season around, the Bulls arrived with a point to prove after weeks of hard work under coach Victor Madrid. On an unusually fine day in Innisfail, Mareeba delivered a dominant display that rewarded their persistence and commitment.
The visitors controlled much of the opening half and were rewarded before the break when Pozzebon found the back of the net to hand Mareeba a deserved 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Both sides emerged from the sheds eager to stamp their authority on the contest, but it was the Bulls who struck first. Quick-fire goals to Dillan Cummings and Leon Peressini saw Mareeba surge to a commanding 3-0 advantage and seemingly take control of the match.
However, the Cutters refused to surrender. Two rapid goals from the home side brought the margin back to a single goal and briefly shifted momentum in favour of Innisfail.
The match took another turn in the 73rd minute when Innisfail’s Di Carlo was shown a red card, leaving the hosts to finish the game with 10 men. Mareeba capitalised on the numerical advantage and produced a blistering finish to the contest.
Peressini added two more goals to complete a memorable hat-trick, while veteran Wayne Srhoj capped off the afternoon with a late goal to seal a comprehensive 6-2 victory.
The result lifts the Bulls off the foot of the table and provides a timely confidence boost as the competition enters the second half of the season.
Mareeba will now turn its attention to a home clash against the Stratford Dolphins at Borzi Park this Sunday – looking to build on a performance that showcased the team’s potential.
