Cairns Cup success for local trainer

A LOCAL Atherton trainer and her young gelding have taken home $87,000 in prize money after racing and winning the annual Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup last Saturday.

A LOCAL Atherton trainer and her young gelding have taken home $87,000 in prize money after racing and winning the annual Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup last Saturday. 

In a 14-horse race it was Atherton’s very own Tutelage trained by Janel Ryan who crossed the line first almost a full length ahead of runner up Maqeureau. 

The five-year-old horse has now earned $185,800 in prize money over its career making it the second highest earning horse at Mrs Ryan stable.
