Cane forum to explore future
THE next era of sugarcane production will take centre stage in March when the Next Gen 2026 Cane Forum is held.

Over three days, new growers and industry veterans will converge to explore the technology and innovation defining the future in the field.
From immersive on-farm field trips to showcasing real-time advancements and deep diving into everything ag tech, the forum is the launchpad for the next generation of sugarcane farming and industry leaders.
Co-organisers Aglantis and Queensland Cane Agriculture & Renewables (QCAR) have announced the official schedule for the Next Gen 2026 Cane Forum, running from 2-4 March across the Burdekin and Herbert regions.
Designed to put innovation in the hands of growers and other industry stakeholders, the event features exclusive field trips to progressive farms with hands-on demonstrations of the latest technology.
Aglantis managing director Luke Malan said Next Gen 2026 was about showcasing practical technology and ideas that sugarcane farmers were using today from automation and precision irrigation and carbon to compliance.
“This is about giving our nation’s growers real-world examples, connecting them with industry, and helping them to see and pave the way to what the future of sugarcane farming could look like,” he said.
QCAR’s Senior Technical Agricultural Officer and event co-organiser, Lawrence Di Bella, said Next Gen 2026 was more than just conversation and networking.
“By combining high-level innovation with practical boots-on-ground field trips, we are making sure our next generation of leaders can see how new technology translates to profitability and sustainability on farm,” he said.
“At QCAR, we believe that witnessing advancements firsthand is one of the sparks we need to drive our industry forward.”
