Catch a glimpse of Tablelands art

THERE is still time to catch Glimpses, by local artist Tim Ellis at the Tableland Regional Gallery this month.

The exhibition of new paintings offers glimpses into an artist’s life in rural far-north Queensland. Ellis’s cinematic composition captures fleeting moments rendered in vivid detail and bright, fluid brushstrokes.

Glimpses is a free exhibition which runs until Saturday, 7 March, at the Gallery at 16 Robert Street, Atherton.

The Foyer Gallery is also still showcasing the vibrant offerings by Songriver Photographers.

Local People: The Third Series continues the group’s work in feature portraits of locals ranging from families who have farmed in the region for generations, through to artists, musicians, authors, scientists and business entrepreneurs who have chosen the Tablelands as their home, far from their origins.

Well worth a visit before it closes on 20 February.

Following on the heels of Local People will be a new display from local artist Bruce Kilpatrick, which begins on 24 February.

Yesterday Today Tomorrow is Bruce’s first solo exhibition. His works use various media and his own distinctive style to explore longstanding interests, including fishing, fossicking, animals and landscapes.

It will run from 24 February to 22 May at the gallery on Mabel Steet, Atherton.
