Championship belt up for grabs
MAREEBA’s Spirit Muay Thai gym will be buzzing this weekend as it gets set to host a special 12-card fight show that will have a championship belt on the line for the main bout.
The amateur fight night will see performing athletes from across Far North Queensland, including kids, teenagers, men, and women, converge to the Mareeba gym to put it all on the line.
“This event will be a special one for Spirit Muay Thai (SMT), as for the first time we will have an SMT Championship Belt up for grabs in the main event,” gym coach Salvatore Signorino said.
“The night will feature amateur Muay Thai bouts, including full Thai rules fights, with local SMT fighters taking on fighters from other gyms.
“We’re expecting another great night of Muay Thai and a strong local crowd supporting the fighters.”
The event will be held this Saturday at the Mareeba International Club, with doors opening at 4pm before the first bout begins at 5pm.
There will be food available and a bar open on site. Attendees will also have the chance to win some prizes through raffles being drawn during breaks.
Trainer sought
A TRAINER is currently being sought to join the team at Spirit Muay Thai, Mareeba.
The gym has been growing successfully since its inception and coach Rosario Signorino said they would like to find someone to help to continue the growth of the gym and develop its fighters.
