Churches unite
SIX churches in Mareeba are joining forces to hold a tent crusade over four days this week, with the aim of promoting God within the local community.

Pastors and members of Abundant Life Centre, Royals Church Mareeba, Baptist Church Mareeba, Community Church Mareeba, Mareeba Community of Faith, and the Seventh Day Adventist Church will all be at Davies Park from this Thursday to Sunday hosting events for anyone who wishes to attend.
Featuring special guest speaker evangelist Steve Schiller and a 500-man tent, the crusade will kick off on Thursday night with an opening night rally from 7pm, followed by another night rally on Friday night (7pm).
Saturday will see a men’s breakfast take place from 7.30am, before a night rally later that evening (6pm).
Sunday will see a special morning service at 9.30am featuring all six churches, their congregation, and other members of the community. The weekend will then culminate in a closing night rally from 6pm on Sunday.
The event is being hosted by Mareeba Churches Together (formerly Mareeba Ministers Fraternal), which is a group of leaders from each local church who have been meeting once a week for a number of years.
Pastor Jeff Xhafer of Royals Church said the group had organised a number of outreaches over the years and had felt led to hold the tent crusade this year.
“The purpose of the event is to make Jesus known to the community of Mareeba,” he said.
“We are community-minded churches. We have a food bank, we do hospital ministry, prison ministry, all sorts of things, and we’re believing we can impact our community in a positive way.”
He said the event was for the whole community of Mareeba and the Tablelands.
“We want to introduce people to the God of hope,” he said.
“As a pastor, I do suicide prevention and we see all sorts of things out there, and we believe that we can give people hope.
“On behalf on the six churches that are doing this, the community of Mareeba is most welcome to come along and we hope to see you there.”
The tent crusade will be held at Davies Park, Mareeba, with events across Thursday-Sunday. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, contact one of the six churches involved.
