ASHS graduate secures 99.85 ATAR ranking
Atherton State High School (ASHS) graduate and 2020 Dux recipient Xaante Thomas has successfully scored a monster 99.85 ATAR score, just .1 off the highest possible attainable score of 99.95.
Atherton State High School (ASHS) graduate and 2020 Dux recipient Xaante Thomas has successfully scored a monster 99.85 ATAR score, just .1 off the highest possible attainable score of 99.95.
Miss Thomas attended ASHS and was apart of the 2020 graduating class where she participated in the end of year exams to determine her Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
On top of being acknowledged as the 2020 Dux for ASHS she also claimed the title of highest ATAR ranking with her amazing 99.85.
Miss Thomas did not expect that she was going to get such a high ATAR ranking or be the recipient of the Dux for 2020.
“I wasn’t expecting to get that high of a score it was very much a surprise,” she said.
“I did a lot of questions from a variety of textbooks and mock exams that the school provided for us.
“There was a lot of studying in my own time to get prepared for the ATAR exams.
“I wasn’t particularly aiming for the Dux, so it was a bit of a surprise to get it.”
Now Miss Thomas will be using her talents to help others after being accepted into James Cook Universities Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery where she will start in 2022.
“It’s (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” she said.
“I’ve wanted to do it for most of my time in high school.
“I’ve always been very interested in doing a lot of rural and remote work particularly with pregnant women and children.”
Now after attaining her impressive ATAR ranking and Dux honor Miss Thomas is excited that she is finally on the journey to realizing her dream.
