The very next Cruise-in for the Atherton men’s shed is happening tonight, Friday November 6.

A Cruise-in is where local motoring enthusiasts get to show off their unique, antique, classic cars, trucks and motorbikes. It’s also one of Atherton men’s shed signature events and fundraisers.

Secretary of the Atherton Men’s shed John Whyte said “On the Tablelands there are a few hundred people with classic or restored cars and these people like getting together for social nights and there’s not a lot of opportunity for that,” he said

“Our cruise in is not a car show, there are no competitions or show and shine, it’s just people who own cars, getting together showing of their pride and joy and sharing their passion with the public as well.”

In the past, the Atherton Cruise-in has attracted up to 90 cars, trucks or motorbikes on display and anyone can bring their car along to be put on display on the night.

The Atherton Men’s shed started in 2011 and since they planned to have five Cruise-ins per year, but due to COVID the upcoming cruise in will only be their third event for 2020.

The Cruise-in kicks off at 5.30 pm and admission is free for the whole the family, the Men’s Shed will be running a BBQ and sausage sizzle to help raise funds on the night. For COVID tracing purposes everybody must register their details on arrival and personal distancing must be practised.
