Elders Insurance Tablelands is celebrating 20 years in business since first opening its doors in 2001.

LOCAL business woman Jeanette Suffield has been working in the insurance industry since she was 16, now nearly 50 years on she celebrates the 20th anniversary of her own insurance business, Elders Insurance Tablelands.

After spending a lifetime in the Insurance game, Jeanette Suffield made the leap to buy Elders Insurance Tablelands at the behest of the Elders Insurance regional manager.

Starting in 2001 with just herself, one office and one other employee, Mrs Suffield has grown to have nearly 10 staff and two offices, one in Malanda and one in Tolga.

Mrs Suffield’s feels that her decision to buy the Elders franchise and strike it out on her own was the “best thing” she ever did.

“It changed my life really, at that time it was only a small business just me and one other girl,” she said.

“Now in the insurance alone I’ve got nine staff including myself and looking for a tenth.

“We get excellent word of mouth and we look after our claims from the office.”

Elders Insurance Tablelands handles claims that matter to locals including home and contents, cars, farms and business insurance.

“People like that one-on-one face to face service,” Mrs Suffield said.

“We have a personal and homely feel, so people know the girls when they phone the office.

“I am absolutely delighted with the progress we have made over the years.”

To celebrate their 20 years Elders Insurance Tablelands held a special dinner at the Pullman International in Cairns at the start of July.
