GOING from one of many to becoming one of none, Joe Guy’s story is unlike any other in the entire country, living off the land, his wits and his love for horses.

From a street kid growing up in Sydney to becoming an accomplished artist recording several albums, a playwright, musterer and clinician Joe has done it all.

With the sole purpose of living his life in mind, 52 year-old Joe has spent all of his life on the road and on the back of a horse, traveling the world breaking in some of the toughest horses, many to be thought untamable.

Joe stopped over in Mareeba last week and put the call out searching for another horse to help him in his journey.

Always preferring to take in horses that are going to be shot or given away, Joe takes them and gives their life purpose again before finding them better homes.

“These are all rescue horses, I only take horses that people don’t want that they say are going to get shot that I can save and rehabilitate then I find them a home at the end of the day,” he said.

“I’m looking for a horse that nobody wants, something they love that could be saved.

“If its unbroken I break it in, it takes me about seven days 10 days and I should be heading across country.”
