Mareeba Rotary boost Christmas Appeal

MAREEBA Rotary have continued their tradition and kick started the Mareeba Shire Councils (MSC) Mayor’s Christmas Appeal donating $1,500 last Thursday, November 26.

MAREEBA Rotary have continued their tradition and kick started the Mareeba Shire Councils (MSC) Mayor’s Christmas Appeal donating $1,500 last Thursday, November 26. 

The donation is a long-time tradition done by Rotary to get the ball rolling for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.

Mareeba Rotary President Maree Lopez was excited to get the first donation in for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. 

“It is tradition for Mareeba Rotary to kick start the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal,” she said. 

“We realise that the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal is an important part of giving back to the community. 

“This year there are a lot of more people struggling and by donating its good to have that connection with our community.” 

MSC Mayor Angela Toppin was grateful for the donation and said that the money will be put to good use this festive season. 

“I sincerely thank Mareeba Rotary for this generous donation to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal,” she said. 

“Money raised through the appeal will be donated to various community groups across the Shire to assist local families this Christmas season.”
