ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander culture was in the limelight at Mareeba State High School (MSHS) last Thursday with the school hosting its annual NAIDOC Day celebrations.

The day saw Grade 10 students learning spear and boomerang throwing on the school oval in their third lesson, plus a sausage sizzle, painting and Defence Force talks during lunch.

The afternoon consisted of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, sharing their culture and entertaining their peers through dance.

Overall, the celebrations were a huge success, with hopes for it to carry on into the future
