Community Christmas celebration
MAREEBA families are invited to come together for a day of festive fun, community spirit, and family-friendly activities at this year’s Community Christmas Celebration, taking place on 16 December from 11am to 3pm at Arnold Park.

The event is a collaboration between several local organisations, including Mareeba Community Centre (MCC), PCYC Mareeba, Mulungu Aboriginal Corporation Primary Health Care Service, Mission Australia, Cafe One, and Mareeba & Communities Housing Company (MCHC).
Attendees will enjoy a free community BBQ, lollies and Zooper Doopers, craft activities, sports, and DJ music, along with a dedicated face-painting booth for children. The much-loved local firies will be on site with their big red fire truck, offering families a chance to meet the crew and explore the vehicle up close.
With summer in full swing, children can also cool off with water play on the lawn bowls area, supervised by event staff.
This year’s celebration will also showcase a range of community stalls, providing opportunities for families to learn about local services, supports, and programs available across the Mareeba region.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the day is the arrival of Santa Claus, who will be making a memorable entrance in a police vehicle, thanks to the support of local emergency services. Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa, take photos, and share in the festive excitement.
