Cowgirl goes global
TABLELANDS business owner Rebecca Magro has been named a finalist in the 2026 Women Changing the World Awards, standing out among more than 1,500 nominees across 97 countries worldwide.

The global awards recognise women achieving outstanding success across areas including leadership, innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
Rebecca built her business, Cowgirl Country, from a small handmade cowhide hobby into a thriving retail and online business celebrating rural Australian lifestyle, craftsmanship, and community connection.
Rebecca says that Cowgirl Country is more than just a retail brand.
“It’s become a hub for local engagement, supporting regional events, collaborating with local creatives, and creating experiences that bring people together,” she said.
Being named a finalist on a global stage was a proud moment not just for her, but for regional communities.
“It shows that you don’t have to be in a big city to build something meaningful,” she said.
“Small communities have so much heart, and I’ve always believed that if you stay true to who you are, you can create something really special.”
Rebecca encourages other women to pursue their ideas, even if the path feels uncertain.
“Start before you feel ready and don’t wait for perfect. Back yourself, even the smallest idea can grow into something powerful,’ she said.
Over the past 12 months, Rebecca has expanded her business into a new retail location, launched new product lines, grown her online presence, and continued to support community events and initiatives across the region.
The winners of the 2026 Women Changing the World Awards will be announced in Paris on 22 April.
