Rebecca Magro and her business Cowgirl Country are up for two awards at this year’s Precedent Cairns and Regions Local Business Awards.

Rebecca’s business, Cowgirl Country, has been listed as a finalist in the Specialised Retail Business Category, while she herself is a finalist for the Outstanding Businessperson of the Year award.

Rebecca said she was “pretty chuffed” with her nominations, especially after picking up an Honourable Mention (for Small Business of the Year) and Bronze (for Rural Impact) at the Women Changing the World Awards earlier this year.

“To be honest, I’m still trying to take it all in. I’m incredibly honoured that people have taken the time to nominate me,” she said.

“Knowing that someone believed in me enough to put my name forward is something I genuinely don’t take for granted, and I’m so grateful for that support.”

Rebecca was the only Tablelands business to make it as a finalist out of 368 other Far North Queensland businesses.

“Being the only Tablelands business named as a finalist is something I’m incredibly proud of because I love where I live and I’m passionate about showcasing our region,” she said.

“Being named a finalist in the Specialised Retail Business category is exciting in itself, but to also be selected as one of just 12 finalists from more than 200 nominated businesspeople for Outstanding Businessperson of the Year is truly humbling.

“While these nominations have my name on them, they really belong to everyone who has supported Cowgirl Country along the way. My customers, the Tablelands community, my family, and my friends have all played a part in this journey, and I couldn’t have done it without them.

“No matter what happens on awards night, I’m already incredibly grateful.”

The awards, managed by Precedent Productions, will be held at the Pullman Hotel in Cairns on 8 August.
