The 11th annual Cycle for Hope charity bike ride brought together cyclists, volunteers, community organisations and supporters for another inspiring day of endurance and generosity.

This year’s event saw 58 cyclists tackle the challenging 145km course which runs from Redlynch, up the Kuranda Range through to Mareeba and Mt Molloy, then down the scenic Rex Range for a finish in Port Douglas.

For more than a decade Cycle for Hope has raised awareness and vital funds for Scripture Union Queensland’s Chaplaincy Service across Far North Queensland. The event continues to highlight the important role school chaplains play in supporting the wellbeing of students, staff, and families within local school communities.

“School chaplains provide a caring presence and a listening ear for students facing a variety of issues, including anxiety, family difficulties, loneliness, grief, and other personal challenges,” ride director Belinda Fowler said.

“Through relationship building, mentoring, and early intervention, chaplains help create safe and supportive school environments where young people can thrive.

“Cycle for Hope continues to be a true community effort. A special thank you goes to the Mareeba Lions Club for their ongoing partnership and support, as well as the many volunteers from local churches who generously gave their time throughout the day.

“Their commitment, together with the efforts of the cyclists and supporters, helped make this year’s event another outstanding success.”

All funds from the event will go directly towards supporting chaplaincy services and resources in schools throughout the region.
