Cyclone works set to start

TENDERS worth a total of $2.4 million have been approved by Tablelands Regional Council.

Three of the tenders were for works associated with damage done by Cyclone Jasper in late 2023.

The council awarded a $791,817 contract to Northern Civil Earthworks Pty Ltd to replace a culvert on Soley Road, Upper Barron, after it was damaged in the weather event, while Watto’s Earthmoving and Machinery Hire Pty Ltd was awarded $292,162 for a culvert on Morganbury Road, Walkamin.

Watto’s was also awarded a contract worth $606,039 for a culvert replacement on Coolgarra Road, Mt Garnet, also damaged in Cyclone Jasper.

The council also approved a contract for $543,864 to NQ Asphalt Pty Ltd for pavement rehabilitation on Ball Road, Peeramon, and a $174,900 contract to Financial Forecasts Australia Pty Ltd for management services for the next 12 months at Lakeside Motor Inn and Caravan Park at Yungaburra.
