Dinner and a free movie for disaster awareness

A FREE night at the movies will be a draw card for this year’s Dinner and Disaster event at the Mareeba Drive-In, being hosted by Mareeba Shire Council.

Building on the success of last year’s event, this year the movie chosen by popular vote was Independence Day, which will be the finale of an evening which features stalls from Emergency Services, Red Cross, Farmer to Farmer, RSPCA QLD, NBN, Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development and more.

The evening, from 4pm-9pm, on 17 October provides visitors with the opportunity to visit stalls and get important tips on how to stay safe this disaster season, whether it be bushfires or wet season flooding.

Food will be available from the drive-in café.

Bring your camping chairs and picnic blankets or stay comfy in your car for the movie.

For more information contact Mareeba Shire Council on 1300 308 461.
