Doll alerts police
A MOUNT Garnet man has been charged with several child exploitation material offences after he allegedly attempted to import a child-like doll to Far North Queensland.

Detectives from the Tablelands Child Protection and Investigation Unit allege that on 21 November, the man attempted to import the doll into Australia but was intercepted by the Australian Border Force and Queensland Police was notified.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Mount Garnet address, where they allegedly located cannabis, drug utensils, digital devices, two additional dolls, child clothing, and child exploitation material.
The 57-year-old man has been charged with three counts of possess child exploitation material, two counts each of use carriage service to access child abuse material, possess drug utensils, and one count each of intentionally import goods without approval, possess child abuse object, make child exploitation material, possess dangerous drug.
The man was issued a notice to appear in Mareeba Magistrates Court on 13 January 2026.
