Donation boosts pantry program

A PANTRY cupboard and a variety of canned and packaged foods has been purchased by ECHO Empowering Services at Malanda, thanks to a donation by the Tableland Soroptimist Club.

The club focuses on supporting disadvantaged women in the local community and was pleased to be able to donate $1500 to ECHO for the group’s Community Pantry program which operates from 12noon-1pm on Thursdays.

ECHO provides various services for community members to remain in their own homes when household tasks become too difficult, and helps people stay connected to their local community.

From the Neighbourhood Centre a community bus operates, there are various activities including board games, community lunches, an over 55s women’s group, walking and wellbeing groups, as well as several opportunities for young people.

Tech help, JP services, access to a community computer and printer, and referrals to other services are also offered at the centre.
