Mareeba residents are able to get tested for COVID-19 from the comfort of their own cars with a drive through fever clinic that opens tomorrow.

The clinic is being hosted at the Borzi Park Band Hall from Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30 and starting this Friday, August 28.

Mareeba Hospital Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Facility Manager, Ross Clarksmith said that the testing has been set up to rapidly respond to increased demand for testing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Testing is important to keep us all safe,” he said.

“The more people that are testing the sooner we will be able to act if there is a COVID-19 transmission within the community.

“This gives us a better chance to shut down an outbreak.”

The clinic is free but appointments are mandatory and everyone being tested is instructed to isolate until their test results are available.

The drive through fever clinic is by appointment only, to book an appointment call 4092 9342, the line opened today, Thursday August 27.
