The Mareeba club proves there is no age limit for equestrian, with this year’s squad ranging from as young as six to 66 years old.

Meraki owner Yvon Van Reeuwijk said the local show was much more than just a competition for many of the riders.

“It is an opportunity for them to challenge themselves, build confidence, develop horsemanship skills, and become part of a proud, local tradition that has brought the Tablelands community together for generations,” she said.

“At Meraki Equestrian Centre, we believe local agricultural shows play an important role in keeping our rural heritage alive. They provide young riders with valuable experiences, encourage sportsmanship, and create opportunities for families, businesses, volunteers, and community groups to come together and celebrate everything that makes our region special.”

Van Reeuwijk said she and the team were proud of the diversity within their team, with 60 years separating the eldest and youngest members.

“Together they represent the spirit of equestrian sport and prove that a love of horses, learning and community knows no age limit,” she said.

“We are proud to support the Malanda Show and all the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make it possible each year. Their efforts provide invaluable opportunities for local riders and help keep our community spirit thriving.”
