Event puts call out for caravans
AS Mareeba’s only country music festival edges closer, organisers of Savannah in the Round are looking for help from the community, asking to hire local caravans for essential festival staff.
Sound Australia CEO James Dein said with the recent increase in tourism, securing onsite accommodation in the form of caravans for essential staff had been difficult.
Some staff are required to be on ground 24/7 to help with the running of the festival and now Mr Dein is appealing to locals to see if they are willing to hire their caravans out for the weekend.
“At the moment, the Far North Queensland region is heaving with an influx of tourists which is wonderful but what that means is hiring Apollo vans or caravans through private hire channels has been difficult,” Mr Dein said.
“We need people who may have suitable vans that may not be listed with the private caravan hire websites.
“There may be people out there that have a van they are happy to provide for a week’s hire.”
