Expansion for Atherton aerodrome
SEVEN new leases have been approved for the Atherton Aerodrome to meet the demand for new hangers.

Tablelands Regional Council owns and operates three aerodromes – in Atherton, Herberton and Mt Garnet – and has moved to approve the expansion of the Atherton facility by up to seven lots for recreational purposes and two lease lots for commercial purposes.
To survey all the lots and provide mains power to five recreational lots and one commercial lot will cost an estimated $144,300.
The decision comes after the council undertook consultation earlier this year with aerodrome lessees and users, adjacent property owners and the broader community identifying the future needs of the Atherton facility.
The consultation revealed that 91% of respondents supported the development of private hangers first, with 41% voting for 7-9 hangers to be developed.
