Eyes on the prize
PHOTOGRAPHS or footage of natural disaster impacts are the subject of a Mareeba Shire Council competition open to the community.

Entries for the Disaster Footage Competition must be original photos or recordings taken by the entrant within Mareeba Shire boundaries depicting disaster events, response efforts or community resilience and recovery.
The winner will receive a $250 emergency kit, with the second placegetter to win an emergency essentials kit (valued at approx. $100).
Entries may also be selected for inclusion in a new film on local disasters, which the council hopes to launch in October.
The production is a follow up to the award-winning Stories of Jasper film created by council.
The competition closes at 5pm on Thursday, 20 August, and winners will be announced in September. Go to https://msc.qld.gov.au/news/mareeba-shire-disaster-footage-competition to find out more.
