Fatal pedestrian incident
POLICE are appealing to the public for witnesses to an accident in Mareeba on 22 March that claimed the life of a 84-year-old man.
Mareeba Pony Club stalwart Col Thompson died after the accident which happened around 7.15am on Tuesday.
The elderly man was riding a mobility scooter along Rankin Street when a collision occurred with a silver 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 28-year-old Mareeba woman who was travelling in the opposite direction to the man.
Mr Thompson was transported to Mareeba Hospital as a precautionary measure, however, passed away.
The woman was not physically injured. Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses to the collision, especially those with dashcam to come forward.
