The Premier Ladies were not so lucky in their preliminary final, suffering a 3-0 loss to Leichhardt on Saturday, ending their 2022 finals run.

The Premier Ladies went into their last match of the season on a high, winning their previous semi-final against Innisfail by 3-0. Starting off in Leichhardt’s favour, the side scored early halfway through the first half and despite the Bulls having multiple chances to equalise before half-time, none stuck and the score remained 1-0.

In the second half Leichhardt pushed hard and put another two quick goals into the Bulls net, sealing the deal.

Coach Marcello Savaglio said he was proud of how the girls played throughout the entire season and their constant development.

“We gave it our all and we were missing a couple of our key players in the midfield but they were missing players as well so there isn’t really any excuse – Leichhardt put their chances away and we didn’t,” he said.

“The season overall, I am very proud of the girls, from when we started we lost quite a few girls from the previous season so it was a new group and the way they stuck in and improved was great to see.

“Getting into the finals was a good feat for us this season.”

The Bulls Division One Mens team will now go face-to-face with Atherton Eagles, in in neutral territory this Friday night at Endeavour Park with kick off at 8.30pm.
