Finals set to deliver a show
ONE of the most competitive bull rides of the year will be held this weekend as the Great Northern Bullriding Series gears up for its Finals event.

Held at the Atherton Showgrounds, the annual finals event never fails to attract some of the best cowboys from across the Far North region looking to claim championship glory.
Braydon Wellby is looking likely to track down a second consecutive Open Bull Ride championship, as he currently sits almost 5,000 points ahead of second and third place.
Meanwhile, the Novice Bull Ride title is being led by local cowboy Shane Dyer on 1,824 points – just 466 points ahead of the second-placed Jack Jepson.
In the Junior Bull Ride, Dakota Struckel leads the rankings on 1,163 points. He’s followed by Caleb Sheahan on 665 points.
The bucking chutes and arena will be erected right on the football field in front of the grandstand, with plenty of options for camp chairs and rugs to be set up close to the action as well.
There will also be a bar open until late, a wide variety of food vendors, giveaways and a merchandise tent.
The gates to the Showgrounds will open at 5pm this Saturday for a 7pm start, with an official afterparty scheduled for the Barron Valley Hotel following the action.
