Fishing comp boosts fund
OVER 200 anglers turned out for the third annual Ash Memorial Fishing Comp at Tinaroo recently, with nearly $4,500 being raised to help local children.

The fishing competition was first held in 2022 in honour of the late Ashley McDowall Holm, who sadly passed away at age 19 after a single-vehicle accident.
Proceeds from each event have been put towards the Ash Memorial INC – a memorial fund dedicated to helping local children and families with sporting-related costs.
Event organiser, and Ashley’s mother, Megan McDowall, was very pleased with the turnout for the event.
“This year we saw 208 anglers participate in the competition. Tinaroo really turned on the weather for us. It was hot and sunny all weekend – not as windy as last year,” she said.
“Just under $4,500 was raised for the Ash Memorial INC. Once our ABN name change has been completed our foundation will be up and running ready to help children with their hopes and dreams.
“It’s great to see all the committee's hard work starting to pay off. None of this would have been possible without the support of all our sponsors and the committee members who helped make all of this come to life.”
