Flower power at annual show
THE Herberton Community Hall will become a riot of colour, perfumes and activity when the 79th annual Flower and Craft Show heralds the first week of spring.

With cut flowers, floral art, pot plants, orchids, garden produce and craft all vying for top spots in the show, as well as the annual Photography Competition and displays from local schools and Girl Guides, this weekend’s event is a major drawcard for the historic town.
Hosted by the Herberton Garden Group, this “true community event” is supported by many local businesses, according to group secretary Sally May.
It also showcases the beautiful Grace Street flowers, which the garden group maintains with the TRC.
“We look after the flower gardens, including raising seedlings and doing about six hours of voluntary labour weekly,” Sally said.
“There’s always something colourful to enjoy in Herberton.”
The Flower and Craft Show and Photography Competition (for amateurs only) will be held on Saturday
from 12 noon-5pm, and Sunday from 9am-12 noon.
The official opening will be at 1.30pm on Saturday, followed by a performance by the MAS Choir.
Winners of the various categories on show will be announced by the judges on Sunday.
Entry to the hall is free for children up to 14 years, and $5 for adults - cash only.
To obtain entry forms and schedules for both the Flower and Craft Show and the Photography Competition, go to the Herberton Garden Group Community Facebook page or visit the Herberton and Atherton information centres.
