Fluffy Glider call to provide answers
A FREE talk on Thursday in Malanda will delve into the world of the Northern Yellow-bellied Gliders who fill a specialised role in the Wet Tropics and are of concern for conservation.

University of Melbourne PhD student, Qiiongbo Yu is attempting to ascertain how many of the species are present and how the population varies between sites using acoustic monitoring techniques.
Luckily Yellow-bellied Gliders make a very distinctive set of calls and so setting out acoustic monitors that record sounds through the night might help better understand this beautiful mammal species.
The Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group is hosting a presentation by Yu that will be open to the public and will begin at 7.30pm in the Malanda Hotel on Thursday.
Everyone is invited to attend and find out what a Yellow-bellied Glider sounds like and how we might learn more about this northern Queensland mammal sometimes called a Fluffy Glider.
