Free activities to celebrate community centres
MAREEBA’S Community Centre is set to celebrate Neighbourhood Centre Week next week with some great free activities on offer.

The week, which runs from 12-18 May, is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the vital role and impact of local neighbourhood and community centres, with theme for 2025 of “The heart of our community”.
The Mareeba Community Centre will be celebrating the week with free daily activities from Monday 12 May to Friday 16 May and is encouraging anyone in the community to take part and help celebrate.
On Monday, from 10am-12 noon, a drumming session will be held, while on Tuesday, the attention turns to cooking from 10am-12 noon.
On Wednesday, a mindfulness and yoga session will be held from 10-11am, then on Thursday, a Seniors Group will be hosted from 10-12 noon during which the participants will meet with the community centre staff and paint self portraits.
On Friday, it’s “Meet Your Neighbours Barbecue” from 11am to 1pm and everyone is encouraged to bring a plate to share.
The centre will have its community transport program running for each of the events which is open to all Mareeba residents aged 65 years and below.
