Free concert in the park

MAREEBA’S Arnold Park will be the place to be this Sunday afternoon, for the first of a new series of free concerts being put on by the Hotshots Big Band.

Starting this month, the Hotshots will perform an eclectic repertoire from classic swing to modern pop, promising something for everyone.

The band will have 12 members playing, not its usual 16-member complement, but will play favourites from the old big bands of the 30s as well as plenty of modern songs.

Whether it is swing, or pop, the joint will be jumpin’, as they say.

The Hotshots Big Band concerts are free and will commence this Sunday from 2.30pm-5pm. There will also be concerts on 24 May, 28 June, 26 July, 23 August, and 20 September.
